This Joke Is On Me

25th Aug 2010

Hello Lovely People

Did you see the list of best and worst jokes from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival?

The winning joke was from Tim Vine “I’ve just been on a once-in-a-lifetime holiday. I’ll tell you what, never again.” I can associate with that, having been caught in the aftermath of the volcano, and that is humour.

These two “jokes” also appear on the top ten list of “festival funnies”:

From Robert White “For Vanessa Feltz, life is like a box of chocolates: Empty.”

From Bo Burnham “What do you call a kid with no arms and an eyepatch? Names.”

Should the last two not rather have been on the list of unfunny jokes?

I do have a sense of humour. Having been on the receiving end of some of these “jokes” at some point in my life, I agree with the saying that a joke should bite like a lamb rather than like a lion.
